The research of the Molecular Genetics (MolGen) department, university of Groningen, concentrates on the molecular biology of a number of low G+C Gram-positive bacteria. The nature of the research is both fundamental and application-oriented with a focus on functional genomics. Transcript- and protein profiling by high-throughput technologies such as DNA microarrays and proteomics tools are (being) implemented. The datasets are generated by various researchers in our laboratory and are analyzed by use of existing and in-house developed bioinformatics tools.
